Alva June Pierce Anderson, 86, formerly of Rossville, passed away on April 7, 2022, in a LaFayette nursing home.
She was a loving aunt and friend to many and will be remembered for her love of cooking for everyone around her—even writing her own cookbook many years ago. She was a 1953 graduate of LaFayette High School and retired from Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe after many years of service. She was a member of Rossville First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John H. Anderson, as well as her parents, Jesse and Winnie Pierce, and eight of her nine siblings.
She is survived by her sister, Bettye Gulledge of Rossville, many nieces and nephews, and many “adopted” children and grandchildren who loved her dearly.
A celebration of June’s life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 4 p.m., at Park Place Restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 3 p.m., at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
