Eldred Henson Obituary (2023) – Rio Hondo, Texas, TX


Rio Hondo, Texas – Eldred Blen “E.B.” Henson peacefully passed January 31, 2023 at his home in Rio Hondo, Texas.

E.B. was born January 31, 1932 to the late W.R. Henson and Gertrude Logan Henson in Arpelar, Oklahoma. He was a valued employee of Quaker Oats, Co. (now Pepsico) until his retirement after thirty-six years of faithful service.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards, bowling at Creasey’s Bowl, singing in the church choir, day trips to Mexico, dancing at the Circle L RV Park, eating at Denny’s and Lonnie’s Down Home Restaurant. He was a longtime member of the Elks.

E.B. is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann (Stacy) Henson, and daughter-in-law, Dianna Henson.

Left to treasure E.B.’s memory is his son, Stanford Lynn Henson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandson, Matthew Henson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Logan Henson and Caleb Henson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Cheyenne Jones and Dakota Crisler of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and sister, Sandra Stewart of Arpelar, Oklahoma; special friend, Robin Collins; and many others who fondly remember E.B’s wonderful wit, sense of humor, and being a delightful storyteller.

A graveside service and interment will take place at Arpelar Cemetery in Arpelar, Oklahoma. A local service to celebrate E.B.’s life and legacy will be announced at a later date.
