Tallahassee Suites under construction near former Chuy’s restaurant

Land is being cleared to make room for a new Tallahassee Suites on Lafayette Street, between World of Beer and the former Chuy’s Tex Mex restaurant. 

Built on a 1.61-acre lot, the three-story, 15,367 square-foot hotel will have 63 rooms. It will face Apalachee Parkway, and the parking lot will be adjacent to Lafayette Street. 

The hotel is part of the stayAPT Suites brand, which lists Tallahassee as a “coming soon” service area on its website. The hotel company recently opened new locations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Greensboro, North Carolina and Greer and Greenville, South Carolina. 

According to stayAPT Suites’ website, it entered the long-term lodging market with an announcement of its new hotel concept in January 2020.

The new brand plans to open 17 hotels by the end of 2021, with additional plans to 15 new sites in the works. Suites, spanning roughly 500 feet, include a dedicated living room, a full kitchen and a separate bedroom.
