Tennessee Aquarium turns 30 – WDEF
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)-The Tennessee Aquarium is turning 30 years old and this week will have several moments to celebrate what it means to Chattanooga.
This week is about looking back on what it did for the community and a look ahead.
C.E.O. of the Aquarium, Keith Sanford, says the aquarium has changed the whole landscape of downtown Chattanooga and gives the locals and tourists something great to do.
“When the aquarium opened, it really came back to life and brought just such a breath of fresh air. Hotels and people walking around and restaurants. Really, now a great place for locals and a great place for tourists,” said Sanford.
Saturday will have a full day of events, including fireworks to cap off the 30-year celebration
