Restaurant Report Card for the week ending March 23, 2018

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action. Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards. To file a health-related complaint, call the Department of Environmental Health at 209-8110. The scores are original and do not reflect on-the-spot changes, which sometimes lead to upward adjustments.

One failure reported for the week ending March 23, 2018:

64 Thais Esan, 4330 Ringgold Road; reasons including raw food products thawing at room temperature, in-use utensils stored in standing water, personal beverages/food items not properly stored, cardboard used at walk-in cooler as floor covering, employees not properly washing hands, raw/hazardous food products not stored to correct temperatures, wet wiping cloths stored on food/prep surfaces.

76 2 Squares a Day, 3399 Amnicola Highway; reasons including floor drain with scum build-up by front case, inside of cooler with excessive spillage, dusty vents, no staff with food safety knowledge, knives stored behind soiled pipe along soiled wall.

79 IHOP, 5314 Brainerd Road; reasons including old spillage on floor under handsink by dish machine, unidentified powder in cup on shelf by disposable gloves, in-use clean towels left out on table and not stored, microwave area soiled inside and on top, hand sink blocked and no paper towels present.
